'Get Him to the Greek' review

Now i went into this movie not being a huge fan of Russell Brand but do like Johnah Hill's rise to stardom so i had to give his new film a watch. Directed, produced and written by Nicholas Stoller who had a huge hit with "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" brings back Brands character of Aldous Snow. Aldous is a has been rocker now but is the target of Aaron Green (Johnah Hill) to get him back to the "Greek" for a 10 year anniversary where he first played. Aaron is also struggling to spend time with his nurse girlfriend who wants to move to Seattle. Not sure about Brands acting as he just seems to play himself. A drug addict, sex magnet and just never seems a stretch for him to act rather than being his normal self. Johnah does great at trying to please all of Aldous requests to get him to the concert on time including a bit of "wamb bam thank you man" in a toilet cubicle and being asked to hide his drugs somewhere rather uncomfortable. At short of 2 hours the film does seem to drag in spots and i seemed to not care if they ever did get to the "Greek" or not. The star turn of the film has to go to P Diddys character Sergio Roma. Sergio is Aarons boss who assigns him to accompany Aldous to get him to the Greek on time. Sergio steels every scene he is in and is hilarious in his T1000 chase through a hotel and the streets. The soundtrack is ace though with London Calling and Anarchy in the uk to name but a few hits which does help the watchability of the film. And do hate to say it but Brands singing isn't so bad and if "African Child(trapped in me)" was released as a single I would probably buy it. Get him to the Greek is an easy watch with moments of being hilarious. Just feel was a little long as what should have been a race against time and a fast paced comedy its a little slow.
